Dhaka University to host DUNMUN 2026, bringing global diplomacy to campus
Dhaka University is set to host one of the country’s largest student-led diplomatic gatherings as the Dhaka University Model United Nations Association (DUMUNA) prepares to organise the 13th edition of its flagship conference, Dhaka University National Model United Nations (DUNMUN).
The four-day conference will be held from 19–22 August 2026, bringing together more than 500 delegates, including international participants, at the historic Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building. The event is expected to transform the university campus into a hub of diplomacy, dialogue and cross-cultural exchange.
Founded in 2011, DUMUNA has grown into a prominent platform for student diplomacy, leadership development and policy dialogue in Bangladesh. Guided by its motto, “United we work, united we achieve,” the association promotes global cooperation through Model United Nations simulations, debates and international representation.
The theme for DUNMUN 2026 is “Consolidating effective multilateralism by upholding unity in diversity in an evolving global landscape.” Reflecting the conference’s central motto, “United in difference,” the theme underscores the importance of inclusive cooperation as nations navigate an increasingly complex global order.
Over the years, DUMUNA has also built a strong international presence. Its delegates have represented Bangladesh at major global conferences, including the London International Model United Nations (LIMUN), Nepal MUN and BITSMUN Goa, earning several accolades. Notable achievements include an Honourable Commendation at LIMUN 2023 and Best Delegate awards at Nepal MUN 2024.
Recently, the association marked its 15-year journey, celebrating more than a decade of debate, diplomacy and student-led engagement that has extended well beyond the university campus.
DUMUNA’s impact continues through its alumni, many of whom now work with international organisations such as the UNDP, WHO and the World Bank. Their career paths stand as a testament to how student diplomacy can evolve into meaningful global leadership, inspiring a new generation of delegates ahead of DUNMUN 2026.
